FORT PLAIN- Mr. Herbert H. Patterson,80, of Old Fort Plain Rd. entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday November 13, 2008 at his residence. He was Born January 1, 1928, son of the late Herbert D. and Myrtle (Collins) Patterson. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged 1n 1946. He was a dock builder for the Carpenters Union in New York City. He was a proud member of the St. Johnsville American Legion and the Odd Fellows. Survivors include his wife Ellen; daughter Donna Denis and her husband Frank of Fort Plain; son Jeffrey Patterson; foster sons Jack Sidoran and his wife Laura; James Abraham and his wife Elina ; stepsons Robert Shaut and his wife Kim; Richard Shaut and his wife Valerie; Michael Shaut; brothers Richard Patterson and his wife Rhodamary of Virginia; Daniel Patterson and his wife Marilyn of St. Johnsville; Joseph Patterson and his wife Carol of St. Johnsville; Sarah Perkins and her husband Daniel of Canajoharie; sister in laws Edna Marko; Janet Kelly,Joyce Irons and Elaine Patterson; brother in laws Joe Swank, Richard Swank and Roger Olin; his aunt Doris Collins of St. Johnsville; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his wife Gertrude L. Elthorp, his brothers Edward and James Patterson and his sister Elizabeth Hoyer. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home. 9 Center St. St. Johnsville, NY from 4-8pm on Friday November 14,2008. There will be an American Legion service Friday at 7pm. A religious service will be held Saturday November 15, 2008 at 11am with Rev. David Plank officiating. The family will welcome friends and relatives back to their house immediately following. Interment of cremains will be Tuesday November 18, 2008 at West St. Johnsville Cemetery.
