Obituary of Betty Perry

HERKIMER-ILION - Betty L. Perry, 65, of Galinsky Apartments, 105 Protection Ave., Herkimer, formerly of London Towers, Ilion died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born on May 4, 1943, in Binghamton the daughter of Chester and Anna Smith and attended Binghamton schools. On June 22, 1975, she was married to Frank F. Perry. He died on Sept. 5, 2000. Betty was a certified nurse’s aide at Broadacres, Utica, and most recently was employed at Oasis Laundry, Ilion. She was a member and volunteer at the Salvation Army of Herkimer. Survivors include her son Michael “Mike” Smith and daughter Christine Perry. Both of Herkimer; three granddaughters Amanda, Jennifer, and Michelle; three sisters Geraldine Lindow of Pa., Charlotte Holbrook and her husband Gerald of Binghamton, and Connie LaVanites of Albany; one brother Mitchell Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Beatrice Wright and her parents and adopted parents. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at The Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Capt. Becky Stetser of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Visitation will be Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the family, in care of Michael Smith and Christine Perry, 225 King St., Herkimer NY, 13350.
