Obituary of Harold Pierce

Harold ?Hal? Ross Pierce, Jr., of 38 East Faville Ave, Dolgeville passed away on March 10, 2008. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, on August 22, 1947, the son of the late Harold Ross Pierce, Sr. and Marguerite C. Bell-Pierce. He was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, class of 1965 and US Air Force Electronics Tech School, Lackland, AFB, Texas. He served four years in the USAF, (1966-1969) in Minuteman Missle Maintenance at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota. He departed the USAF as an E-5 Tech, Sgt. He worked at Mohawk Data Science in Herkimer for 17 years, then Par- Micro Systems New Hartford and finally Tumble Forms in Dolgeville. Harold served as a Trustee and as Police Commissioner on the Dolgeville Village Board from 1982-1984. Hal leaves behind one son, Scott Eric Pierce and wife Rebecca of Salisbury, two daughters, Shari Lyn McGill and husband Chris of Liverpool and Suzanne Lee Burnham and husband Drew of Maynard, Mass., five grandchildren, Brett Thomas Sherwood of Salisbury, Savanna Sherwood of Liverpool, Madeline, Jeremiah and Levi Pierce of Salisbury, two brothers, Terry Pierce of Bridgewater and Timothy Pierce and wife Diedre of Cicero, two nieces, Michelle and Shayna Pierce of Cicero, three cousins, Lee Bell of Canton, Ohio, Claudia Kleist of Salisbury and Darryl Dyer and many close friends. He was pre-deceased by his father, Harold Pierce, Sr. in October 1992, his mother, Marguerite Pierce in April 2004, brother, Thomas Pierce in March 1989, aunt Evelyn Bell in October 2001, uncle Leland Bell, Jr., aunt, Ruth Dyer, and aunt, Marie Ashley. Hal?s passions were automobiles, electronics, and woodworking. Hal was able to combine his knowledge of electronics and woodworking to make innovative and creative art. Harold especially enjoyed listening to and advising others in the walk of like. His humor, insight and perspective will be missed by many. In keeping with Hal?s wishes, a memorial service will be held on Thursday March 13, 2008 at 5:00 pm from the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville, NY. Spring burial will be in Dolgeville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home, on Thursday evening from 4 pm until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Van Allen Nursing Home and the Hospice nurse for their assistance in Hal?s final days.
