Obituary of Ruth Pietrandrea

HERKIMER-Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth (Babcock) Pietrandrea, 85, of Galinsky Apartments, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday evening, December 23, 2008 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica. At the time of her passing she had the love and support of her daughter and son in law, Louise and Kenneth Wiernicki at her side. Born on March 19, 1923 in Oneonta, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Edna (Howland) Babcock and educated in Walton schools. On August 31, 1946, she was united in marriage with Guiseppe (Joseph) P. “Peters” Pietrandrea, he passed away on January 8, 2000. She was last employed with the former Corso Dress Shop in St. Johnsville. Mrs. Pietrandrea was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and was an exceptional arts and crafts worker. Survivors include her beloved family: two daughters and sons in law: Louise Wiernicki and husband Kenneth of Herkimer and Margaret Myers and husband Larry of Rochester; her grandchildren: Anna Stratton and husband Brent of Manchester, Michael Myers and wife Grazina and Christopher Myers of Rochester; her great grandson: James Stratton; a brother in law: Harry Carter, Jr. of Dolgeville; many nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved feline companion: Roni. She was preceded in death by her sister: Elnor Carter and her grandson: Ronald Joseph Wiernicki. Mrs. Pietrandrea’s memorial service will commence at 11 am on Monday, December 29, 2008 from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer with the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer officiating. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 10-11 a.m prior to the service at the funeral home. Spring inurnment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Ronald Wiernicki Memorial Athletic Award Fund, c/o 204 Willis Ave., Herkimer, or to Valley Health Services, Herkimer; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor.
