Obituary of Christopher Rhone

Tahuya, WA (formerly of Lowville, NY): Christopher “Chris” M. Rhone, 58, of Tahuya, Washington, passed away on August 27, 2008 at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale, WA. Chris was born on October 12, 1949 in Lowville, NY, a son of Marion (Simser) and Wilbur O. Rhone. He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1967, Canton ATC in 1969, and the State University of New York in 1992. He received his Associate of Applied Sciences and Bachelor of Science Degrees. Chris joined the Navy in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1994, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander and was the recipient of numerous awards. He was a Director of Information Technology, completing 15 seasons in Antarctica. Mount Rhone, in the Britannia Range of Antarctica was named in his honor. Chris was a member of the Ilion-Frankfort Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 502. Chris married Lin Wright in Bremerton, WA, who passed away in 2003. He then married Joyce Brisson, a childhood friend, of Tahuya, WA in 2004. Together they shared a blessed union. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur O. Rhone; his beloved brother, Thomas S. Rhone; and his wife, Lin L. (Wright) Rhone. He is survived by his loving wife of 4 years, Joyce E. (Brisson) Rhone, of Tahuya, WA; his mother, Marion R. (Simser) Rhone of Ilion; his son and daughter-in-law, Jorge (Ito) and Christine Pizarro of East Hartford, CT; his brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Sonny Rhone of Puyallup, WA; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen & Donald Richardson of Cazenovia,Susan & Richard Stott of Clifton Park, Dale & Gene Klosner of Ilion, and Patricia White of Latham; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Brisson of Utica; sister-in-law, Carol Brisson, also of Utica; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his good friends, Jay and Susie Allen and William and Sammi Gannort of Tahuya; and his kitties, Butch and Chewbacca; and Desi and Lucy, the dogs. Chris was a kind-hearted man, always so graciously giving to others. He especially enjoyed traveling, gardening, camping and hiking. A private family service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2008, with Deacon James Bower officiating, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion/Frankfort.
