Obituary of Wanda Runyon

MOHAWK-ILION - Wanda O. Runyon, 88, formerly of 20 Marshall Ave., Mohawk and formerly of Ilion died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. She was born on Aug. 4, 1919 in Fly Creek, N.Y., the daughter of guy and Ina (Scutt) Van DerVoort and attended Ilion schools. In August 1937, she was married to Richard ?Dick? E. Runyon in Ilion. He died on Dec. 29, 2000. Wanda was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ilion and its women?s group. She was also a member of O.E.S. Survivors include her three sons and two daughters-in-law; Duane and Jean Runyon, Kenneth Runyon and his companion Karen Ford, all of Ilion, Peter and Barbara Runyon of Arizona City, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Christine; her brother, Ken Van DerVoort and her sister Marguerite Butterworth. In keeping with Wanda?s wishes there are no scheduled calling hours or funeral services at this time. Spring burial will be held at Mohawk Cemetery at a time and date to be announced. As an expression of sympathy; memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ilion. The Runyon family has entrusted all arrangements to the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion.
