HERKIMER-Gary W. Sims, 52, of Maple Grove Ave., Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 17, 2008 from a long courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 25, 1956 in Camden, NJ, son of the late Joseph Sims. He graduated Gloucester City Jr. Sr. High School in 1974. He was employed with Folts Homes, Herkimer. Gary leaves his beloved family; his son: Cody Sims of Herkimer, his girlfriend: Lori Coyne of Herkimer, his mother: Mildred (Kienzle) (Sims) Tavener and husband Edgar of Gloucester City, NJ; a sister: Jane A. Sims-Hertlein and husband Walter of Gloucester City, NJ; a niece: Cristina Smith and husband Daniel; a nephew: Daniel Weston; one aunt, many cousins and his step-brother: Kent Tavener of Gibbsboro, NJ; there were many special people in Gary?s life, they are: Nicole Hawkins of Herkimer, who was like a daughter to Gary, her son Ethan, John and Mildred Reardon of Mohawk, Tami and Corey Shaut of Ilion, Debra Reardon of Gloversville, Flint Davis of Little Falls, Matt Howard of Frankfort, and Jennifer Szuba of Herkimer. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 21st, 2008 at 5 p.m. in the chapel at the Folts Homes in Herkimer final burial in Bethel Memorial Cemetery, Pennsauken, New Jersey.
