Obituary of John Thomas

UTICA-Mr. John A. "Jack" Thomas, 75, of 2nd St., (Peretta Twin Tower Apartments) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, February 17, 2008. He was born on May 28, 1932 in Theresa, NY, son of the late Leslie and Kathleen (McNeil) Allen. In 1933 he was adopted by William and Nettie Belle, of Detroit, Michigan where attended schools. 1n 1954 he was married to the former Bettie Wiggins. She passed away in 1990. A veteran of the Korean War, Jack served in the U.S. Air Force enlisting in 1950 and was honorably discharged 1954. Mr. Thomas had a successful career for a number of years as a car salesman. For many years he worked at Perkins Buick and Cadillac in Mohawk, NY and later Carbone Auto Sales where he was affectionately known by many as "Cadillac Jack". He was active with the Masons for a number of years and also a member of the New Hartford American Legion, Post #1376. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed playing bridge and could usually be found at the Eastside Senior Center enjoying this hobby surrounded by friends. On Wednesday nights he could be found at Packeys with his regular dinner buddies and on Sunday morning with his breakfast buddies. Particularly in recent years, he concentrated his efforts on finding enjoyment with activities that surrounded his beloved grandchildren. As a man with sincere concern for his loved ones and a generous willingness to help them he was the true heart of his family and will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know him. Survivors include his longtime companion that he loved very much, Ann Perry of New Hartford; his children: Sharon Outtrim and husband Russell of Ilion, William Thomas of Forestport, Amy Williams and husband John of Remsen, and Nancy Bauman and husband Dan of San Antonio, TX; a sister: Pauline Schell of Lowville; his cherished grandchildren: Russell Outtrim and wife Erin of Anapolis, Maryland, Adam Outtrim of Largo, Florida, Sara Thomas of Chicago, Il., Dylan Thomas of Chicago, Il., Brandon Williams of Remsen, Rebecca Williams of Remsen, Stacey Abdallah and Michael Abdallah, both of Mohawk; two adored great grandchildren: Madison and Jacob Morse; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son: John Thomas. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., between Frankfort and Ilion, (894-8000) on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from 12-2 p.m. and also invited to his funeral service commencing at the conclusion of calling hours at the funeral home on Wednesday. Jack will be laid to rest in the spring at a time to be announced. Members of the New Hartford American Legion Post #1376 are asked to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. to conduct their service. The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Jadhon for his friendship and care. Also, a special thank you to all of Jack's friends for their kind acts of sympathy and friendship throughout his lifetime.
