Obituary of Paul Tubia

FRANKFORT-Mr. Paul F. "Teddy" Tubia, 87, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 24, 2008 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. At the time of his passing he had the support and comfort of his family at his side. He was born in Frankfort on December 20, 1920, son of the late Joseph and Carmella (Andre) Tubia and educated in Frankfort schools. Mr. Tubia was a proud member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was last employed with Remington Arms, Ilion retiring in 1981 after many years of dedicated service. On February 24, 1955, Paul entered upon his service as a volunteer firefighter with the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department, (H.H. Ingham Company #3) and continued to until February 22, 1992 when he was honorably discharged from the department by Walter Reska. Paul was truly and completely devoted to fatherhood and eventually to his role as grandfather. Family was very important to him and his loved ones will forever cherish the times that they spent together. He was a true Mets fan and enjoyed watching their baseball games in his spare time. Survivors include his loving family; his children: Paul Tubia of Frankfort, Sharon Hagadorn and husband Bob of Frankfort, Kathy Scalise and husband Edward of Frankfort, Helen Cook and Donal Breach of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Janice Makohen and husband Mike of Frankfort, Carmen Tubia and wife Lori of Mohawk and Steven Tubia and wife Fran of Ilion; sisters and brothers in law: Marian & Joseph Rosemyer, Ann & Eric Garcia of Frankfort, Mary Kinney of Ilion and Carrie Spytko of Richfield Springs; one brother and sister in law: Anthony & Shirley Tubia of Herkimer; an in law: Mildred Tubia of Frankfort; thirteen grandchildren: Robin Gookins, Becky Hagadorn, Tiffany Scalise, Eddie Scalise, Kevin Bluett, Megan Cook, Antonia Tubia, Josh Tubia, Adrienne Mallette, Mark Makohen, Brittany Makohen, Benjamin Tubia and a special grandson Michael Tubia who was very close to Paul "Dad"; nine great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by five brothers: Carmelo Tubia, Rocco Tubia, Infant Anthony Tubia, James Tubia and John Tubia and also by three sisters: Rose Hall, Infant Mary Tubia and Josephine Trippen. The Tubia family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, between Frankfort and Ilion, 894-8000 on Friday (today), January 25, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. The Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department will conduct their service at 7 pm. Mr. Tubia's funeral will commence at 10:45 am on Saturday, Jan. 26th from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11:30 am from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort St., Frankfort where his funeral mass will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas, Jr., pastor. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. The family extends its appreciation to the Frankfort Fire Department and to the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center Intensive Care Unit for their outstanding dedication, their personal concern, and their professional care.
