Obituary of Rose Valent

FRANKFORT-Mrs. Rose S. "Rosie Buck" Valent, a lifelong Frankfort resident, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Saturday afternoon, July 12, 2008 in Valley Health Services, Herkimer at the age of 93. She was born in Frankfort Center on November 17, 1914, daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Oliver) Sarmie and educated in Frankfort schools. On June 30, 1934, Rose was united in marriage with Joseph T. Valent at St. Theresa's Church, Frankfort Center, with whom she shared a union of 48 years. Mr. Valent passed away in August of 1982. Rose worked at Remington Arms during World War II followed by employment with various dress factories. She was last employed with Univac. She was a devoted lifelong communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. Rose was one of the originators of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens of Frankfort and worked tirelessly to get the group up and running. She was very active and involved with the Frankfort Library as well. One of her lifelong pleasures was dancing, a skill which she especially liked to do with her husband. Her greatest joy was watching and caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more than when she was in the company of her loved ones at family gatherings and events. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and knitting. She leaves her loving family; two sons: Henry "Hank" Valent and wife Phyllis and Peter Valent, all of Frankfort; a daughter: Ann Marie "Cookie" Lebert and husband Paul "Butch" also of Frankfort; a sister Angelina of California; her grandchildren: Shannon and Brandon Partenza, Henry "J J" Valent and Andrea, Joseph Valent, Mark and Laurie Valent, Paul and Kassi Lebert, Joseph Lebert; Lisa Seaver, Nick and Kim Bonarrigo; her great grandchildren: Lily and Noah Partenza, Olivia Valent, Craig Lebert and Nicole Seaver; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home of Frankfort, 4309 Acme Rd., 894-8000, on Monday, July 14, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Valent's funeral will commence at 9:15 am on Tuesday, July 15 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor. Procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort where she will be laid to rest. Memorial contributions may be made to the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department Memorial Fund; envelopes will be available at the funeral parlor. The Young at Heart Senior Citizens of Frankfort will pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Monday evening at 6 p.m. The Valent family is very thankful to all those caregivers at Valley Health Services, Herkimer who offered such supportive compassion and concern throughout her stay. A special thank to the staff and caregivers on the 2nd floor and also to Angel and Barbara who were especially helpful and caring. All of your concern was very much appreciated by the family.
