Obituary of Anna Vorst

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Ms. Anna Van Vorst, 96, a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away on August 4, 2008 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home. Anna was born on May 27, 1912 in Starkville, NY, the daughter of the late Edwin and Lillian (Tallman) Mosher. She was educated in the Starkville Central School district. Anna came to St. Johnsville in 1947 and has been a resident ever since. Her marriage to Ralph Van Vorst took place on September 2, 1944. They were married for 34 years until the passing of Mr. Van Vorst in 1978. Ms. Van Vorst was last employed at Beech-Nut in Canajoharie. When she wasn’t working, Anna enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was also a member of the St. Johnsville Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. Anna is survived by several nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. She was pre-deceased her husband, Ralph Van Vorst, her two brothers, Loren and Roland Mosher, and three sisters, Dorothy King, Harriette Pinson, and Beulah Gray. In keeping with Anna’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or services. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside memorial service on September 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the West St. Johnsville Cemetery in St. Johnsville, NY. All memorial contributions can be made to the Secret Santa Fund at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home, in Anna’s name.
