Obituary of Mary Volo

HERKIMER-Mary Volo, 74, of Westwood Drive, Herkimer passed away on Monday afternoon, September 29, 2008 in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with the love of her niece Cassie DeCarlo by her side. She was born on May 22, 1934 in Mohawk, daughter of the late Carl and Providenza (Loicano) Volo. For 32 years, she was employed as a cashier at P & C Foods, Herkimer. She was a member of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. Mary enjoyed spending time with her friends and also going out to dinner. She will be missed by all those who knew her. Survivors include three brothers: Joseph Volo and wife Winnie of Mohawk, Michael Volo of Columbia Center and Samuel Volo and wife Birdie of Cazenovia; a sister in law: Millie Volo of Ilion; many nieces and nephews, including Dr. and Mrs. Robert De Carlo (Cassie) of Herkimer. Also surviving are many cousins and two special friends: Esther Brown, Helen McCumber and Barbara Wiers. She was predeceased by three brothers: Nate Volo, Lebro Volo and Carl Volo. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home (Herkimer) from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer, celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial offerings to the Osteoporosis Fund; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor.
