Obituary of Robert Waldo

MOHAWK-ILION - Robert "Bob" Waldo, 89, of Warren Rd., Mohawk, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. He was born on July 3, 1918, in Ilion, the son of Earl and Bette (Barger) Waldo and attended Ilion High School. Bob was employed as a toolmaker for over 20 years at Sperry-Rand Univac, Ilion. He later was a machine shop instructor for five years at Mohawk valley Workshop in Utica, retiring in 1970. At one time he attended Mohawk Methodist Church. Survivors include 5 nieces: Joanne Valentine and husband Richard, Carolyn Elthorp and husband Bill, all of Mohawk, Cheryl Waldo of Frankfort, Mary Beth Fusillo and husband David of Schuyler, Diana Granahan of Manilus; 3 nephews: Gerald Waldo and wife Barbara of Herkimer, David Waldo and wife Paula, Jonathan Waldo and friend Sherron Quail, all of Frankfort; several great-nieces and nephews; 4 great-great nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marian Jaworoski; his brother, Richard Waldo; and his step-sister, Adeline Harter. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of Ilion United Methodist Church, officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday from noon-2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion.
