Richard E. Zaklukiewicz "Zak", of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2008 at the Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls. He was born on July 7, 1934 to the late Edward and Mary (Halgas) Zaklukiewicz in Amsterdam, NY. Richard graduated from Wilbur Lynch High School in Amsterdam, Hudson Valley Community College and Mohawk Valley Community College. A US Veteran, Richard served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was employed as a technician specialist at Hamilton Standard Dept of Defense NASA and previously by General Electric and Mohawk Data Science. His marriage to Eileen Connolly took place on Feb 28, 1960 at St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam, NY enjoying a union of 48 years. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Little Falls Elks Lodge #42 and previously a member of St Mary's Church Men's Club in Little Falls. Richard loved to watch his grandchildren play baseball and field hockey. He was a true gentleman and loved puttering around his home. He loved to travel with his wife to see his grandchildren and son Ken. He was a big Yankee fan and loved Cape Cod. Zak also enjoyed Friday night fish fries with his friends. He is survived by his beloved family; his wife Eileen; two sons Richard Zaklukiewicz and wife Carolyn of Little Falls and Ken Zaklukiewicz and companion Melanie Herrin of Alexandria, VA ; a daughter Kathy Izzo and husband Mike of Little Falls; a brother: Gary Zaklukiewicz and wife Judy of Amsterdam and a sister Terry Guzielek of Johnstown. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Meghan and Leandra Zaklukiewicz of Little Falls , Cassandra and Michael Izzo of Little Falls, and Eric and Jennifer Zaklukiewicz of Phoenix, AZ. ,and his aunt: Eleanor Swierzowski; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St, Little Falls on Friday Jan. 2, 2009 from 5 to 8 PM. The funeral will commence on Saturday Jan. 3, 2009, 10:15 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, Little Falls and 11:00AM at the Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., in Little Falls with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor officiating. On Friday Jan 2, 2009 the Little Falls Elks BPOE #42 is having their service at 6:30 PM. Richard will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
