Obituary of Betty Ainsworth

Ilion: Betty M. Ainsworth, 78, of Ilion, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior at Faxton-St. Luke?s Health Center on Wednesday, August 15, 2007. Betty was born on May 11, 1929 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Herbert and Catherine (Hodom) Gilman. She was also the beloved daughter of the late Victor Librera. Betty was a graduate of Mohawk Central School and a life long valley resident. On June 5, 1948, she married Charles ?Chuck? Ainsworth, her childhood sweetheart, and together they shared a blessed union of 52 years before his passing on November 17, 2000. Over the years, Betty worked at many jobs, including Rome Air Base and Remington Arms, but her most cherished memories were of the years she and Chuck spent managing the campground at Whiteface Mountain. The time in the Adirondacks with Mike and Laurie, Dot and Don, and all the gang were precious times for Betty, as was the time spent with her Mount Zion Ministries family, especially Joan and Julie. Betty is survived by her daughter Linda and husband Terry Leonard and her son, James and wife Georgia Ainsworth, all of Ilion. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Jason and wife Courtney Leonard, Sarah and husband Jason McMahon, Rebecca Leonard and her companion Lou Ciotti, and Jeremiah Ainsworth; and her great-granddaughters: Torri and Karris Leonard and Delaney McMahon. Other survivors include her Uncle William Gilman, her sister-in-law Louise Ainsworth, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her Aunts Rosie and Angie. Betty?s calling hours will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 18, 2007, with her funeral service immediately following. All services will be held at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, between Ilion and Frankfort (894-8000).
