Obituary of Agnes Babrowicz

MOHAWK-Agnes ?Jennie? (Ucasz) Babrowicz, 83, a longtime resident of Mohawk, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, 2007 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. She was born in the town of Danube on December 28, 1923, daughter of the late George and Frances (Szaja) Ucasz and was educated in Owen D. Young schools. She also attended the Excelsior School of Business. On November 22, 1947, Agnes was united in marriage with Benjamin H. Babrowicz in Sacred Heart Church, Little Falls. The couple enjoyed a union of 30 years until Mr. Babrowicz?s passing on March 20, 1978. Jennie was employed during World War II at the National Automotive Fibre Company in Little Falls, later at Remington Rand?s typewriter division, Ilion, as a secretary to the chief plant accountant then moving on as a stenographer at Governor Alfred E. Smith?s State Office Building, Albany, in the Department of Audit Control-Travel Section. Lastly, she was employed at Univac, Ilion/Utica Operations for twenty five years as a secretary. She was of the Catholic faith and a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer and also the church Rosary Society. Jennie also belonged to the AARP. She is survived by a brother in law: Stanley Babrowicz and sister in law: Frances and a sister in law: Eleanor King of Utica; nephews: Walter Babrowicz and wife Nancy of Utica, Michael Babrowicz and wife Leslie of Northridge, Ca., and Robert Babrowicz and wife Marguerite of Spartanburg, S.Carolina, nieces: Cheryl Babrowicz of Liverpool, Lorraine Belt and husband Douglas of Potsdam and Wendy Olds of Ilion; a great niece: Julie Babrowicz; great nephews: Benjamin Babrowicz, Robert Babrowicz, Jacob Babrowicz, Andrew Babrowicz, and Seth Belt. Jennie was predeceased by three brothers: Felix in 1942 who was killed accidentally at Fort Benning, Georgia during WWII; Sigmund who passed away in 1997 and Theodore who passed away in 2003. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 from 5-7 p.m. Her funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Sat. morning, Oct. 27, 2007 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Procession will follow to St. Mary?s Cemetery, town of Herkimer where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Kindly consider memorial offerings to a charity of your choice.
