Martha Bechard 79, a long time Ilion resident passed away on Tuesday December 18, 2007 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born April 22, 1928 in Stockwell, NY the daughter of the late George and Emma (Betzinger) Reynolds and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. Her marriage to John Bechard took place on August 7, 1948 at the Ilion Episcopal Church. Martha was last employed for the Herkimer Public Health Nursing Service. Martha was a woman who felt that motherhood was her greatest honor and deepest joy in her life, proving herself a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. In her leisure she was an avid supporter of the Ilion Golden Bomber sports and the school?s music department, enjoying and supporting her children?s and grandchildren?s activities throughout the years. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, John; two daughters, Jacqueline Mooney and husband Thomas of Vestal, NY and Mary Ann Sterling and husband Ozzie of Ilion; two sons, Thomas (Bomber) Bechard and wife Cynthia of Ilion, and John R. Bechard and wife Darlene of Lake Worth, Florida; a brother, Warren Reynolds and Elaine of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Mooney, Betsy Fitzpatrick and husband Will, Jeffrey Mooney and wife Molly, Joseph Mooney and wife Melissa, Brian, Scott, and Heidi Sterling, and Philip, Carly and Thomas Bechard; two great grandchildren, Liam & Shay Fitzpatrick, and several nieces & nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, George Reynolds. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, (between Ilion and Frankfort), 894-8000, on Thursday December 20, 2007 from 5-8 pm.
