Obituary of Marian Bishton

ILION-Marian T. Bishton, 82, a lifelong resident of Ilion, passed into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday evening, November 6, 2007 at the Harding Nursing Home, Waterville, NY where she had resided for the last three weeks. At the time of her passing she had her family at her side. She was born in Ilion, New York, on December 15, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Almeta Hughes Taylor of Ilion. She attended Ilion schools and graduated in 1943. She was joined in marriage with Robert R. Bishton, Jr., on April 8, 1950, a blessed and cherished union of nearly 49 years. Mr. Bishton predeceased her on March 8, 1999. Mrs. Bishton worked at the Ilion Sentinel after graduating from high school. Later, she worked at the Aeroball Pen Factory in Ilion which was owned by her father-in-law, Robert R. Bishton Sr. and the Folts Home in Herkimer as a nurses aide. Some of her best memories were traveling the country with her husband, Bob, in their RV. She also enjoyed the wonderful summers spent with family and friends and winters snowmobiling at their camp on Piseco Lake in the Adirondacks. Later in life, she loved spending winters in their home in Sarasota, FL. One of her fondest memories was swimming across Big Moose Lake when she was a teenager. She also enjoyed carrying on the tradition of cheering for the Yankees after Bob's passing. She enjoyed bible studies with her close group of friends and attended New Life Church in Herkimer. On September 5th, 1975, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her strong faith and love for the Lord brought her a deep peace and comfort and allowed her to lead others to know Him. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and her family will deeply miss and always remember the loving care, concern and wisdom she provided them. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. III, and Laurie Bishton of Waterville, and her four cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Bishton of Whitesboro; Adam Bishton of Madison; Taylor Bishton and Tanner Bishton of Waterville. She also leaves behind two sisters, Ethel Mehring, Zephyrhills, FL and Verna Tresohlavy, Melbourne, Florida; her brothers, Donald Taylor of Ilion and Albert Taylor of Rocklin, CA., many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Leona Hull of Herkimer and her brother, Robert Taylor of Canton. Visitation at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, will be on Friday, November 9, 2007 from 4:00-7:00. Mrs. Bishton's funeral will commence at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2007 from New Life Ministries, 337 Protection Ave., Herkimer with the Rev. Joe Jansen, pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest. Marian's family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Chabot and the wonderful staff of the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville, who treated her with such care and compassion.
