David M. Blencoe, 80, a long time Fort Plain resident, passed away on Tuesday August 14, 2007 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home. He was born April 7, 1927 in the Town of St. Johnsville the son of the late Jay & Helen (Crawford) Blencoe, and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1944. His marriage to Catherine Mang took place on November 22, 1947 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville. Until his retirement in 1980, David was owner & operator of the Blendale Farm on Clinton Road, in the Town of Canajoharie. David was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Freysbush, and a member of the church council and past president, and a member of the Farm Bureau and past president, Montgomery County Grange and past president, member of Fort Plain Elks Lodge and the Town of Minden Planning Board. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Catherine, six daughters, Marion Pitcher and special friend John Mulligan of Richfield Springs, Phyllis Reese and husband Ed of Fort Plain, Janet Trumbull ? Alford and husband Frank of Fort Plain, Joan Ploss and husband John of Stratford, Linda Smith and husband Wayne of Fort Plain and Karen Fish and husband Jim of Burlington Flatts, NY. 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews & cousins. He was pre-deceased by four brothers, Roger Orin in 1923, Carlton, Lloyd and Burton Blencoe, and two granddaughters, Deborah Reese & Meagen Smith and a son-in-law, Robert Trumbull. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 17, 2007 at 11:00 am at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Freysbush, NY, with Reverend Kenneth Dingman, officiating. Burial will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY on Thursday August 16, 2007 from 5-8 pm.
