Obituary of Lester Broadbent

Mr. Lester F. Broadbent Jr. 79 of 28 North Main Street Dolgeville, died Tuesday June 12, 2007 in the Van Allen Nursing Home; Little Falls where he had been a resident since June 8, 2007. He was born in Floyd, New York on September 22, 1927 the son of Lester F. and Gertrude (Loomis) Broadbent and was educated in school there. A veteran of the United State Army he served during the Korean Conflict with the heavy weapons Company 30th Regiment and was honorably discharged with the rank of PFC on April 22, 1955. His marriage to the former Carole Dawn Perkett took place on July 6, 1957 in Ilion, New York. The couple would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this July 6th. Lester was employed for 30 years as a machinist for the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company of Utica retiring from there in 1990. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed fishing, and walking through the woods, or anything to do with the outdoors. He is survived by his wife Carole, his Sons Ellery F. Broadbent of Johnstown, Donald T. Broadbent of Salisbury, Leslie L. Broadbent of Florida, his Daughters Wendy Evangelow of Exeter Center, Wanda Zock of Minnesota, Wanita Barletta of West Winfield, Ruth Palmatier of Edmeston, Patricia Genske of Richfield Springs, Deanna Windecker of Oppenheim, Marlene Woodward of Utica, His Brothers Frank Broadbent of Rome and Glenn Broadbent of Newport, His Sisters Sarah Banner of PA., Margaret Kelly of Utica , Mary Shannon of Utica, and Ada Prosser of Florida, several Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. In Keeping with his wishes, there are No formal funeral services or calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
