Obituary of Elizabeth Buchinski

Elizabeth Ann ?Betty? (Gonyea) Buchinski, 74, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 5, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born January 27th, 1933, in Brandon, NY. She was the daughter of the late Cecil Gonyea and Erma (Marshall) Clookey. She attended schools in Malone, Ilion, and Detroit, Michigan. She was an avid crafter and many people close to her throughout the years were benefactors of her labor-intensive gifts Betty was a resident of Ilion and Herkimer for almost seventy years. She worked in many area shops and later worked at the Folts Home in housekeeping for several years. She was married to Walter Buchinski on August 18th, 1951 in Herkimer, at St. Mary?s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Betty is survived by her husband, Walter, of Herkimer; their three sons, Ronald and his wife Patricia, of Ferndale, Washington; Walter, of New York Mills; Michael and his wife Patricia, of Herkimer; one sister, Joyce Maytan and her husband Walter, of Ilion; three brothers, Richard Gonyea and his wife Vita, of Frankfort; Kenneth Gonyea and his wife Marilyn, of Rochester; David Clookey and his wife Donna, of Greece, NY. She was predeceased by a brother, Lloyd Gonyea, of Michigan. She is also survived by nine wonderful grandchildren and 5 beautiful great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 9, 2007 at 10:00 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY with Reverend Donald Dixon, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday November 8, 2007 from 5-8 pm. The family wishes to thank all those at Bassett Healthcare in Herkimer and Cooperstown for the excellent care she received during her lengthy illness. Special Thanks to Dr. Dywer, Michele Sweet, the receptionists at the Cancer Treatment Center, Amanda Oyer, and everyone involved in her final care with Hospice.
