Obituary of Willard Burdick

Mr. Willard Robert Burdick 85 a former resident of Barnes Road Salisbury Center, and who has been residing at the Folts Home in Herkimer since April of this year, died Sunday September 30, 2007 in St. Elizabeth?s Hospital, Utica. A life resident of this area he was born in Salisbury Center, on July 18, 1922 the son of Clayton and Adeline (Ruby) Burdick and was educated in school in Salisbury Center. A veteran of WW II he served honorably with the United States Army from September 1942 until his discharge in October 1945. He served with Company C 255 Infantry in Central Europe, Rhineland, Sicily, Southern France and Tunisia. Tech 5 Burdick received the following medals for his service, American Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern service Medal w/Bronze Arrowhead. His marriage to the former Phyllis Belcher took place on May 25, 1947 in Little Falls, New York. Mrs. Burdick predeceased him on September 18, 1979. Willard was employed by the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville for many years. He was a member of the Stratford Methodist Church, the Stratford Fire Department, and served as its? chief for many years. He personally enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a self employed carpenter and electrician for many years. His other enjoyment was sharing family dinners with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by a son and his wife Clay and Linda Burdick of Salisbury, his daughters and their husbands Linda and Barry Lamphere of Ilion, Elaine and Louis Barretta and Debra and Barry Prestigiacomo both of Dolgeville, his Brother and his wife Melvyn and Lois Burdick of Oklahoma, a Sister Ruby Williams of Stratford, his Fianc?e? June Belcher-Scarano formerly of Whitesboro and now a resident of the Folts Home, 13 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren a Brother in law Willard Belcher of Mohawk, and a Sister in law Louise Miles of Little Falls, several Nieces and Nephews. His funeral services will be held Thursday October 4, 2007 at 11 AM in the Stratford Methodist Church. The Rev. Joseph Albrecht, pastor will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Stratford Cemetery. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
