Mrs. Shirley Marie Buxton RN, 82 0f 134 Fish & Game Road RD Little Falls (Spruce Lake), died Wednesday August 8, 2007 at her residence of natural causes. She was born in Utica, NY on October 6, 1924 the daughter of Howard and Edna (Bowers) Parshall and was educated in the Utica School system. She continued her education at Mohawk Valley Community College, earning a degree in nursing. Her marriage to William A. Buxton took place on January 4, 1942 in Utica. Mr. Buxton predeceased her on March 17, 1996. Shirley was employed as a Registered Nurse for over 25 years with the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center in Utica, retiring from there in 1981. Her nursing career continued as she was last employed as a Night Nursing supervisor for the Folts Home of Herkimer, retiring from there in June 2006. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints of Herkimer. Her personal interests were in Bingo, knitting, family geology, and flower gardening. She also was an avid reader. She is survived by a Son Charles Andrew Buxton of Buffalo, her Daughters Shirley Darling who resided with her mother, Sandra Weston of Rome, and Billie Jean and her husband Larry Martinson of Middleville, A Sister Virginia James of Florida, 16 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren, her special friends Linda Media, Margaret Avery and Josephine Bush. She was predeceased by a Daughter Cynthia on May 31, 1991. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints 317 Gros Blvd. Herkimer. Branch President Robert J. Buck will officiate. Burial will follow in the Salisbury Rural cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2:00 until the time of the service. Shirley may be remembered with a memorial to the Herkimer County Humane Society or to the Mission Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. Envelopes will be available at the services.
