Obituary of Donald Casey

Donald J. Casey, age 45, of Walnut St., Mohawk, a lifelong Mohawk resident, passed away at home unexpectedly Monday morning, May 14, 2007. Don was born March 20, 1962 in Ilion, son of Donald W. Casey and Mary E. Bouck. He attended Mohawk schools and was a graduate of Mohawk High School, Class of 1980. On August 9, 1985 he was united in marriage to Theresa M. Aceto at St. Agnes Church, Utica. They shared a blessed and devoted union of almost 22 years. Don was employed by United Parcel Service, New Hartford, and also worked part-time at Northern Safety in Frankfort. At one time he was employed by Affiliated Computer Services in Marcy, and at the Baseball Hall of Fame as a tour guide (a job he truly enjoyed). Don attended Blessed Sacrament Church with his family, loved baseball, collected and sold baseball cards often on eBay, was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, and was proud to have made the final rounds on the ESPN game show "2 Minute Drill". He avidly followed his son, Cory's basketball games and track meets. Above all else he was a dedicated and loving family man to his wife, children, parents and siblings. Survivors include his beloved wife, Theresa, and children, Felicia Marie, and Cory John Casey, all at home; his parents, Donald and Margaret Casey of Mohawk, and Mary E. Bouck of Florida; his maternal grandmother, Marion C. Blais; his siblings, Jackie Murphy of Mohawk, Judy Nudo and her husband, Bill II of Herkimer, Jan and Bobby Nudo of Gansevoort, Jack Drumm of California, and David and Jan Drumm of Michigan; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Rita Aceto of Utica; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Chuck Fetterly of Florida, John and Margaret Aceto of Utica, Frank Aceto of Utica; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members; his Godmother, Catherine Carpenter; and many friends including his special friends, Scott Dutcher, Chris and Joan O'Day, Chris Rosen and Angela and Jim Traglia. Don was predeceased by his sister, Diane; stepfather, Myron Bouck; grandparents, Alfred and Mabel Casey, Henry Carpenter, and Mabel Black; and his brother-in-law, William J. Murphy. Family and friends are invited to visitation Thursday, May 17th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd. (between Ilion and Frankfort). Don's funeral services will be held Friday, May 18th, commencing at l0 a.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Procession to Mohawk Cemetery for interment will follow Mass. Those wishing to do so, please omit floral offerings and consider memorial contributions for Don and Theresa's children (Felicia and Cory). Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
