Obituary of Robert Cook

LITTLE FALLS-Mr. Robert F. "Bob" Cook, 85, of State Route 167, (town of Manheim), passed away on Thursday evening, December 27, 2007 in Van Allen's Nursing Home with the love and support of his family by his side. He was born on April 9, 1922 in Little Falls son of the late Charles and Emily (Folts) Cook and educated in Van Hornesville schools. On August 5, 1942 he was united in marriage with the former Violet Vincent in St. Joseph's Parish, Herkimer. Mr. Cook was a proud, honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army and was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a farmer for several years in the town of Manheim and was at one time employed with Cherry-Burrell in Little Falls. He served for 28 years as a committee person with the town of Manheim and also as a board member with the Co-Op Milk Station in the town of Manheim and Agway in Herkimer. Bob enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Violet of Little Falls; two sons: Robert Cook and wife Stephanie of Little Falls and Richard Cook of Danube; a brother: Charles Cook and wife Jean of Mohawk; grandchildren: Jennifer Cool and husband Jamie of Stratford, Melissa Cook of Little Falls, Richard J. Cook and fianc? Rebecca Watson of Inghams Mills; great grandchildren: Owen, Jaime and Summer; in laws: Virginia Dychko of Herkimer, Eleanor Cook of Little Falls and Patsy Cook and friend Brian of Fort Plain; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Mary Schiebel; a brother: Gerald Cook; his son: Ron Cook and by his grandson: Robert S. Cook, this year. The funeral will commence at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, rector of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls officiating. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Kindly consider memorial contributions to a charity of your choice. A large selection of envelopes is available at the funeral home. Spring interment for Bob and his grandson will be held in the spring in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. A funeral luncheon in Bob's honor will be held at a time to be announced in the spring.
