Obituary of Lee Coulter

Lee E. Coulter, age 71, of Yuma, AZ and State Route 8, Bridgewater, NY, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Life Care Center, Yuma, AZ. He was born on March 2, 1935 in Sioux Falls, SD, the son of Avery and Agatha Coulter and graduated from Pelleston, Michigan High School. Lee was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the U.S. Coast Guard for 20 years retiring as Chief Warrant Officer. On November 12, 1960, he was married to Barbara Peak in Ilion. At one time, Lee worked at Chapman Farms, Cassville. He attended St. Joseph's Church, West Winfield and was a life member of the West Winfield VFW. He was also a former member of the Ilion Moose Lodge and Bridgewater Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three children, Patrick Coulter and Karen of Quinby, VA, Donna Chapman and husband, Ed of West Winfield and Janet Kerwin of Bridegewater, NY; nine grandchildren, Angeline Farrington and husband, Ken, Brian, Caitlin, Christine and Josh Chapman, all of Ilion, Ryan, Lauren, Allison and Fallon Coulter of VA, Zachary and Kaylee Kerwin of Bridgewater; one great-granddaughter, Marissa Farrington of Ilion; two sisters, Phyllis Pierce and Connie Coulter and Sue of Michigan; three brothers, John Coulter and wife, Marge, Tom Coulter and wife, Aggie, Mike Coulter and wife, Kay, all of Michigan; his sister-in-law, Veronica Seaman and husband, Larry of Ilion; several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Jerry Coulter; his mother and father; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Irene and Harold Peak; his sister-in-law, Gail Peak; and brother-in-law, Bert Pierce. A Memorial Prayer Service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Father Terence Healy officiating. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Visitation will be held 12:30 p.m. - 1 p.m., Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to your favorite charity.
