Obituary of Neil Edick

MOHAWK - Neil J. Edick, 51, of McKensey Road, town of German Flatts, passed away Monday evening, July 9, 2007, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with his beloved family by his side. Neil was born on Dec. 11, 1955, in Herkimer, son of Cornelius and Mildred (Hadsell) Edick. He attended Richfield Springs Schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1972. Neil was a proud member of the Mohawk American Legion Crowley-Barnum Post 25. At one time he was married to Gail (Toner) Sheehan, Mathew's mother. Neil was united in marriage to Gail A. Kierzinski on July 31, 1982, in Paines Hollow. They would have celebrated their silver anniversary this month. Neil was employed by the Remington Arms Co. in Ilion for over 25 dedicated years. He was a member of the Ilion Snowdrifters and the Mohawk Skull Pirates Snowmobile Clubs. Neil loved the outdoors, gardening, family and friends. He was a man of many talents, knowledge and experience. A friend to all, Neil was always there when needed. Survivors include his loving wife, Gail; four devoted children, Mathew J. Edick and his wife Cathy of Michigan, Kelly A. Edick of Mohawk, Cody J. Edick and Kaylyne E. Edick, both at home. His cherished grandchildren, Grace and Elijah Edick; his father, Cornelius Edick of Mohawk; brother, Mark Edick of Richfield; sister, Kay Strauss of Tennessee; nieces, nephews, and extended family, including his special aunt, Jean Bono of Frankfort. Neil leaves many dear friends, including his special friends, Darryl Burke, Greg Hacker, Paul Greenfield, Bob Trevor, Karen Bamberger, Neal Reardon, Mike Mundorf, and all their families, and his two canine ?boys? Tyson and Benny. He was predeceased by his mother, Mildred ?Millie? Edick, and his grandparents. A memorial service celebrating Neil's life will be held Saturday, July 14, 2007, commencing at 1 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (between Ilion and Frankfort) with Rev. Gerhard Wiegelt officiating, U.S. Army military honors will be accorded. Family and friends are invited to visitation Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the Enea Funeral Home. The Mohawk American Legion service will be held Saturday at noon at the funeral home. In lieu of floral offerings please consider memorials in Neil's name to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, is honored to serve the Edick family.
