David R. Farrell, 26, of 127 Brook Street, Ilion, passed away on Wednesday August 1, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY with his loving family by his side. He was born January 20, 1981 in Herkimer the son of William K. and Mary Alice (Gruber) Farrell, and graduated from New York State School for the Deaf in Rome, NY. David was a lifelong area resident and worked at Herkimer Industries a division of Herkimer Area Resource Center. He was a member of Annunciation Church in Ilion, and belonged to the NYSSD Boy Scout Troop. David enjoyed playing with his dog, Heidi and his toy cars. He loved to sit on the deck with his mom, dad, Heidi, enjoying a cup of coffee. Survivors include his parents, a brother, Dr. Michael J. Farrell and wife Paige R., of Streetsboro, Ohio, a niece, Taylor, and several aunts, uncles & cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 6, at 10:00 am from the Annunciation Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Anthony Barratt, pastor. Burial will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Visiting hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, (between Ilion & Frankfort) will be Sunday August 5, from 3-6 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the doctors and staff of 3 east of Little Falls Hospital, the doctors and staff of the ICU at Bassett Healthcare, and the Staff at Herkimer Area Resource Center for the care and compassion shown to David.
