Doris R. Giltz, 88, formerly of 115 E. German St., Herkimer passed away on Saturday July 21, 2007, at Valley Health Services. Doris was born September 23, 1918, in Antwerp, NY the daughter of the late Maurice & Pauline (Mayne) Backus and lived in the Watertown area all her life until she moved to Herkimer in 1991. Mrs. Giltz was a graduate of Antwerp high School and Newcomb Beauty School in Watertown, NY. Her marriage to Clare R. ?Pete? Giltz took place on August 31, 1940 in New York City. Mr. Giltz passed away on January 16, 2000. Survivors include her son, Richard P. Giltz and wife Patricia L. of Herkimer, two daughters, Nancy C. Dahl and husband Donald R. of Canastota & Barbara J. Griffiths and husband Thomas E. of Croghan, NY, five grandchildren, Miranda, Victoria (Tori) and Jonah Giltz all of Herkimer, and Allison and Maggie Griffiths of Croghan, NY, and several nieces, nephews & cousins. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Sally Sue Giltz and a brother Denver A. Backus. Funeral services are private and held at the convenience of the family.
