Obituary of James Holbrook

Mr. James M. "Jim" Holbrook, 70, of Wildwood, Florida, a Herkimer native, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 13, 2007. His passing occurred in Leesburg Hospital, Forida, and was unexpected. He was born in Herkimer on August 23, 1936, son of the late Laverne M. and Frances (Vorhees) Holbrook and was educated in Mohawk schools. On May 24, 1958, Jim was united in marriage with Connie Cumm in the Episcopal Church, Mohawk with Father Greenway officiating. Jim was last employed with Remington Arms, Ilion and was employed as a supervisor at UNIVAC for many years. He was of the Episcopalian Faith. Following retirement, Jim enjoyed traveling. He was a former member of the Herkimer Elk's Lodge and the Ilion Moose Club. Survivors include his beloved family; his wife Connie; four children: Tammy A. Holbrook of Virginia Beach, Va., Murray J. Holbrook and wife Cindy of Virginia Beach, Va., Lee A. Small and husband Robert of Queensbury, NY, and Paul T. Holbrook and wife Mary Beth also of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother David H. Gay and wife Lori of Ilion; three grandchildren: Ashley Holbrook, Tyler J. Small and Chyenne Holbrook; several nephews and cousins. In respecting Mr. Holbrook's wishes, there are no public calling hours. A graveside memorial service will take place later in the spring in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, at a time to be announced.
