Obituary of Robert Hollum

MOHAWK - Robert G. Hollum Sr., 95, formerly of Creek Road, Mohawk, died on Friday, April 13, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. He had been a recent resident of Folts Homes, Herkimer. He was born on Sept. 13, 1911, in Mohawk, the son of James and Myrtle (Hadcock) Hollum and attended Fox Hollow Schoolhouse, Mohawk. He was married to Evelyn Griffin who died in 1983. At one time Mr. Hollum was a dynamiting expert with General Crushed Stone in Jordanville. Later, he was employed as a foreman in maintenance at Sperry Rand UNIVAC, Ilion, retiring several years ago. Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include one son, Richard Hollum, of Mohawk; two grandsons, Sean Hollum, of Hayes, Va., and Robert D. Hollum and his wife Felicia, of Mohawk; two great-grandchildren, Robert Hollum and Josephine Busic; several nephews and nieces, including a niece Betty Leitz and her family, of Ilion. He was predeceased by one son, Robert ?Bob? Hollum in 2004, two sisters, Edna Maytan and Rhoda Pomeroy and one brother, Norman Hollum. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16, at noon at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of the Ilion United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, 11 a.m. to noon, prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery, Mohawk. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Donation envelopes are available at the funeral home.
