Obituary of Clyde King

Clyde C. King, 77, currently of Route 28, Herkimer, formerly a longtime Ilion and Mohawk resident, passed away following a prolonged illness Tuesday January 16, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. His beloved family was at his side. Clyde was born March 1, 1929, in Cobleskill, son of the late Clyde and Pearl Anna King. Clyde served with the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. On Oct. 24, 1947, he was united in marriage to Isabelle Vincent, a blessed and devoted union of 59 years until Isabelle's passing July 12, 2006. Clyde was a self-employed handiman for many years and was known for his diverse capabilities. He was last employed prior to his retirement at the State Bowling Center in Ilion. His hobbies included golf, bowling, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed time spent with his bowling league and had a great love for the outdoors. Clyde was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family. Survivors include his children, Donald King and his wife Crystal of Herkimer with whom Clyde resided, Noreen Looman of Gloversville, Shirley King of Sebring Fla., Kathleen "Kathy" Pratt and her husband James of Mohawk, Eileen Loomis and her husband Grant of Ilion, David King of Ilion, and Daniel King of Herkimer; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle, his sisters, an infant son Clyde Calvin King and his golfing buddy, Babe Getman. Clyde's funeral service will be held Friday January 19, commencing at 2 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of the Ilion United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, later this Spring at a date and time to be announced.
