Obituary of Joan Carroll

Joan M. Lucas Carroll, age 67, of 151 John St., Ilion passed away Friday, September 28, 2007 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 22, 1939 in West Winfield, the daughter of Joseph and Jean (Case) Lucas and graduated from West Winfield High School and MVCC. Joan worked at Little Falls Hospital as an RN and later as a visiting nurse for "At Home" Care, Inc., in Herkimer. She was a member of South Bay Chapel, Canastota. She was an avid reader and a researcher in the medical field. Joan loved being a nurse and taking care of people. Survivors include her two daughters, Dr. Lisa Lucas-Myers of Whitesboro, Deborah O'Bryan of New York Mills; her son Donald F. O'Bryan III of Ilion; two grandchildren, Sarah and Ethan Myers of Whitesboro; her sister Janine Lucas of Rochester; her brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Janet Lucas of Bryan, TX; one niece Janine Lucas of El Salvadore. She was predeceased by her parents. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion with Rev. Roger Bates, Pastor of the South Bay Chapel of Canastota, officiating. Interment will be in North Columbia Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, September 30, 2007 from 5-7 p.m. and Monday, October 1, 2007 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, prior to the service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Envelopes are available at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion.
