Obituary of Ann Lucey

ILION-Ann I. (Duffy) Lucey Ilion Ann I. Lucey, age 83, passed on to eternal life with the Lord on Sunday, December 23, 2007, at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. Ann was born February 24, 1924, in Dolgeville, New York, the daughter of the late George W. and Gertrude Garland Duffy. She attended St. Patrick's Grade School and St. Francis de Sales High School, graduating in the class of 1942. On August 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to William D. Lucey at St. Patrick's Church, Utica. They enjoyed a blessed, happy and loving life together for forty years until Bill's passing in January 1988. During World War II, Ann was employed at Rome Air Base, and later she was associated with the Child Care Programs at Potter and Brandegee Nursery Schools. Ann was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, the Catholic Daughters Court St. Bridget 265, the St. Francis de Sales Alumni Association and a former member of RSVP. Surviving Ann are her dearly loved family: Her two children, "the sunshine of my life", and their dear spouses: daughter, Gertrude A. and son-in-law, David R. Kaczorowski, of Northfield, New Jersey, and son, William D. and daughter-in-law, Patti A. Lucey, of Little River, South Carolina. Her pride and joy, her grandchildren: David R.W. Kaczorowski and his fiancee, Jessica Nakamura, William J. Lucey, Ann Jean Kaczorowski and Joseph A. Kaczorowski. Her very caring brother and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Emilie Duffy, Marie Duffy and Anna Duffy (my guardian angels). Her loving nieces and nephews: Mary Earl and her husband, Kevin, Carol Carney and her husband, Robert, Debra Richards, Diana Duffy, Jana Mula and her husband, Pat, Alicia Joseph and her husband, Garth, and Sabrina Duffy; niece-in-law, Beatrice Raux and her husband, Ron; nephews, Thomas Duffy and Deb Dufor, Gregory Duffy and his wife, Pam, Joseph Duffy and his wife, Samantha, James Duffy and Terence Duffy; nephew-in-law, Thomas Moreau and his wife, Carolyn; great-nieces and nephews, Becky Dean and husband, Nick, Eric Moreau and wife, Julie, Andrea, Patrick, Erin and Ryan Duffy, Timothy and Lauren Earl, Justin Carney, Ryan, Kyle and Lauren Richards, Gregory and Julie Duffy, Michelle and Kelly Mula, and Taylor and Ashley Joseph; great-great-nephews, Canon and Braden Moreau; and cousins, John Duffy and his wife, Jean, and Joseph Beckel and his wife, Isa. Ann was proud and honored to be Godmother to Kathleen Duffy Moreau, Debra Duffy Richards, Alica Duffy, Joseph and Patricia Duffy. She was predeceased by her brothers, Francis "Bud" Duffy and James "Jim" Duffy, and her beloved niece, Kathleen Moreau. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2007, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, and 10 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Anthony Barratt, Pastor. Calling hours are Thursday, December 27, 2007, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
