Obituary of Ellis Luther

Mr. Ellis ?Bud? Luther 85 of 8 Ransom Street Dolgeville, died Sunday May 13, 2007 in Little Falls Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. Bud was born on April 11, 1922 in Dolgeville the son of the late Jesse and Zaida (Howe) Luther. A graduate of Dolgeville High School class of 1940 he continued his education by attending Utica College. A veteran of WW II he served honorably in the Navy from September 23, 1943 until his discharge on January 12, 1946. Bud served aboard a PT boat in the South Pacific. His marriage to the former Faith Rebekah Darling took place on May 25, 1946; they would have celebrated 61 years of marriage next week. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating at Spruce Lake for many years. Surviving is his wife Rebekah, his son and his wife Dr. Rev. Jeffrey and Gloria (Carter) Luther of James Creek, PA, a daughter and her husband Lynda and Monte Smith of Dolgeville, six grandchildren Sean and Sarah Teletnick Smith of Ilion, Jeremy and Justin Smith of Dolgeville, Joshua and Natalie Luther of Huntingdon, PA, Caleb and Erika of Ketchikan, Alaska, Sarah and her husband Doug Shope of Huntingdon, PA and 4 great grandchildren, a Brother and his wife Harold and Lois Luther of Watertown and a Sister Kathryn VanSlyke of Van Allen Nursing Home, Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Cynthia Luther Spraker in 1968. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 16, 2007 at 11 AM at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. His son Dr. Rev. Jeffrey Luther will officiate. Burial will follow in the Darling Family Cemetery, Town of Salisbury. Calling hours are today Tuesday from 6-8 PM. Memorials may be made to the S & S Ambulance Corps in his name.
