Obituary of Helen Lynch

Helen E. Lynch, age 90, a longtime resident of 31 Michigan St., Mohawk, passed away Monday, March 5, 2007, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. Helen was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Mohawk, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Enright) McDonald. She attended Mohawk schools and was a graduate of Mohawk High School "Class of 1934." On May 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to James L. "Jim" Lynch at the Blessed Sacrament Church in mohawk. They shared a blessed and devoted union of almost 67 years. Helen retired from the Valley Electric Co. Helen was a parishoner at the Blessed Sacrament Church, and at one time a member of the Rosary Society. She was active in the Mohawk PTA when her children were in school. Helen loved to crochet and sew, having hand-crafted wedding dresses for two of her daughters. A devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother, her life was centered around her beloved family. Survivors include her loving husband, James "Jim" Lynch of Mohawk; her children, Kathleen Sweet and her husband J. Donald of Herkimer, Patricia Edick and her husband Larry of Newcomb, James "Jim" Lynch and his wife Maureen of Newcomb, Daniel Lynch and his wife Joy of North Carolina, Mary Jane Lynch and Charlene Jeffris of Freeville; six cherished grandchildren, Larry Edick of Georgia, Sheree and James madison of Hudson Falls, Suzanne and Phillip Griffis of Gansevoort, Scott Edick of Florida, Craig and Brent Lynch of North Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Kinsey and Riley Maddison, and Ethan and Kurt Griffis, many nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws. Helen was predeceased by her brother, Edwin McDonald Hasett and Louise Morin. Family and friends are invited to visitation Thursday, March 8, from 4-7 p.m. at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk. Helen's funeral service will be held Friday commencing at 12:15 p.m. at Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, Mohawk and 1 p.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church where Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. interment in mohawk Cemetery will take place this spring at adate and time to be announced. In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorials in Helen's name to the Valley Health Services Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
