Obituary of Marion McGowan

DOLGEVILLE - Mrs. Marion McGowan, 68, of 53 S. Main St., Dolgeville, fell asleep in death on Saturday afternoon, June 9, 2007 with the support of her family at her side. Her passing occurred in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born on February 11, 1939, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Milford and Kay (Bernarski) Madison and received her education in Owen D. Young school. On February 23, 1957, she was joined in marriage with Edward McGowan. The couple recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Marion was last employed with Daniel Green in Dolgeville and was one of Jehovah?s Witnesses belonging to the Dolgeville Kingdom Hall. She was a devoted Jehovah?s Witness and spent many hours in the field ministry. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband Edward of Dolgeville; her children: Debra Rockwell and husband Everett of Stratford; Edward McGowan, Jr. of Salisbury; Peter McGowan and wife Miya of Dolgeville; Mark McGowan and wife Jennifer of Dolgeville; and Kelly Sponable and husband Stacy of Dolgeville; two sisters: Fay Marosek of Little Falls and Phyllis Leonard and husband Reid of Michigan; three brothers: William Madison and wife Jan of Stratford; Milford Madison, Jr. and wife Mary Ann of Dolgeville and Larry Madison and wife Donna also of Dolgeville; thirteen cherished grandchildren; five adored great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was predeceased by an infant son: Joseph McGowan. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses, 539 Brockett Road, Dolgeville, on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 4-6 p.m. A celebration of her life will commence at 6 p.m. following the conclusion of visitation with Elder Salvatore Scaringe officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Dolgeville Cemetery. The McGowan family is being served by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. Memorial offerings in Mrs. McGowan's name may be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Secretary - Treasurer, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483. Envelopes will be available at the Hall on Wednesday.
