Obituary of Edwin Mosher

Mr. Edwin K. "Moe" Mosher Jr. 83 of 14 Howard Street Dolgeville, beloved and devoted husband, father, father in law, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning February 13, 2007 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica after a brief illness. He was born in Dolgeville on February 16, 1923 the son of the late Edwin K. and Sophie (Stenner) Mosher and was a graduate of Dolgeville High School class of 1941. Ed was a proud veteran having served his country honorably from February 1, 1943 until his discharge on October 2, 1945. A veteran of WW II he served with the Army Air Corps with the 8th Air Force 95th Bomb Group 13th Bomb Wing and the 335th Squadron. Flying a total of 35 missions in the European Theater, including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes, he earned the following decorations; the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, the Good Conduct Medal, and three Battle Stars for the European Theater. His marriage to the former Shirley J. Cagwin took place on August 10, 1946 in Newville Union Church. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. "Moe" was an electrician by trade working out of the Local 181 IBEW in Utica. He was a member of the Electricians Union #181, the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge #796, and the VFW Post of Little Falls, the Little Falls Elk?s Lodge #42 and the American Legion Post formerly of Dolgeville and now of Little Falls. He also was a volunteer Fireman with the former Alfred Dolge Hose Company of Dolgeville, and he served for 30 years on the Dolgeville Central School Board from 1967 to 1997, serving as its' President prior to his retirement from the board. Moe loved his family and was an avid Dolgeville Blue Devils and New York Giant fan. He is survived by his wife Shirley of 60 years, his daughters Beverly Milazzo of Queensbury, NY, Claudia and her husband Harvey Youker of Horesheads, NY, His sons and their wives Jeffrey and Elizabeth Mosher of Little Falls and Gregg and Gisela Mosher of Oaklyn, NJ, His Granddaughters Bethany Milazzo, Amy and her husband Shea Boshart, Wendy and her husband John McKay, Carrie and her husband Brian Carvolho, Abigail Mosher his Grandsons Robert Van Matre, Brett and his wife Loretta Mosher, Darrin and his wife Esther Youker, Philip Mosher, 4 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his Brother Arlington and his two sisters Kathryn Ver Straete and Agnes Fox. Moe will be greatly missed by so many because he was greatly loved by so many. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 17, 2007 at 10 AM at St. Paul's Universalist Church 565 Albany Street Little Falls, with the Rev. Kimberly Miner officiating. Spring burial with military honors will be in the Dolgeville cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
