Obituary of Cody Murdock

SCHUYLER-Cody J. Murdock, 7 years old, of 212 Watkins Rd., town of Schuyler, passed away in his home on Good Friday, April 6, 2007, ending a long, courageous battle with cancer. At the time of his passing he was surrounded with the love and support of his family. He was born on June 8, 1999 in New Hartford, the adored son of Jeffery and Angela (Herringshaw) Murdock of Schuyler and was currently a 1st grade student in Mrs. Roberts class at West Frankfort School. Cody was blessed with charity from his heart, and in spite of the difficulties life presented to him, he found humor, joy, and much appreciation in people he knew and loved. He treasured the simple things in life whether it was a trip to his buddy Bryce?s dairy farm, four wheeling and even target practice. Cody warmed the hearts of everyone that he came into contact with and especially his friends and teachers at West Frankfort School. The way he dealt with his illness was a true testament to his inner strength and love of life. He had an optimistic nature, a positive attitude, an outgoing personality, and a great sense of humor. Survivors include his beloved family; his parents: Jeff and Angie (Herringshaw) Murdock of Schuyler; his maternal grandparents: Ralph and Virgina Herringshaw of Herkimer; his paternal grandparents: Ronald and Christine Murdock of Schuyler; his paternal great grandmother: Bridget Murdock of Schuyler; his loving sister: Caitlyn Murdock at home; his best buddy: Bryce Windecker; many aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, and cousins. Also surviving are numerous friends. The Murdock family will be present in the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Frankfort and Ilion, (894-8000) to receive relatives and friends on Monday, April 9, 2007, from 4-8 p.m. Cody?s funeral will commence at 10 am on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 from the chapel of the funeral home. Following the service, procession will follow to Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest. A very special thank you is extended on behalf of the Murdock family to the doctors, nurses and staff of Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse for the outstanding professionalism and care extended. Thanks also to the entire staff at West Frankfort School for their dedicated friendship. Finally, a warm thanks to the many friends and relatives for the numerous acts of sympathy offered during this difficult time.
