Obituary of Fred Muto

FRANKFORT-Mr. Fred J. "Joe" Muto, 91, of Mann St., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, April 19, 2007 in the Adventist Care Center, Orlando, Florida. He had been visiting his daughter Mary Rose in Orlando and had the comfort of her at his side when his passing occurred. He was born in Old Forge, Pa., on October 10, 1915, son of the late Frank and Rose (Vilardi) Muto and was educated in Utica schools. He proudly joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at a young age, a work relief program established for young men to combat poverty and unemployment. On November 18, 1939, he joined in marriage with Theresa M. Giambrone in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort; a loving, caring and dedicated union of 65 years until her passing on November 4, 2005. Theirs was a union that was based on genuine love, respect and honor. Fred was last employed with Wonder Bread where he was a dedicated employee for 28 years. He won respect and admiration for his outstanding leadership and abilities throughout his working career and was past president of the Bakery and Confectionary Union Local, #50. He retired in 1977. A man of deep Catholic faith, he was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. A good and honorable man, Fred was wonderful husband, outstanding father and inspiring grandfather. His relationships with his family and his friends were filled with the life and spirit of his fun-loving nature. As a man who loved his family, he established close and loving bonds with each of his loved ones. One activity that Fred enjoyed participating in and also truly excelled in was fishing. He participated in this pastime his whole life, indulging his love for the hobby whenever he could. Mr. Muto was truly the happiest when surrounded by family and friends and will be sadly missed. Survivors include his loving children: Frank Muto and wife Denise of Las Vegas, NV, Christopher Muto, Sr., and companion Civita Allard of Utica, and Mary Rose Robilotta of Orlando, Florida; three beloved sisters: Gloria Rachubka of Utica, Dolores Muto of Utica and Tina Cuchiarale also of Utica; in laws: Vincent Fiore of Utica and Catherine "Katie" Giambrone of Frankfort; his adored grandchildren: Jimmy Muto, Christina Muto, Melissa O'Brien and husband Terry, Janeen Muto, Christopher Muto, Jr., Joseph Muto, Tracey Robilotta, Dominick Robilotta and Mandy Washburn; three cherished great grandchildren: Alexis and John O'Brien and Camren Davis; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers: Dick, Jim and Mike Muto and by three sisters: Rose Mary Barkett, Mary Cognetti and Jane Fiore. The Muto family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme. Rd., (between Frankfort and Ilion), 894-8000, on Monday, April 23, 2007 from 4-7 p.m. Mr. Muto's funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Tuesday, April 24th from the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas, Jr., pastor. Procession will follow to All Souls Chapel in Mt. Olivet Cemetery , Frankfort, where committal prayers will take place. He will then be laid to rest alongside his wife. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the American Kidney Foundation or to the American Lung Association; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. Also thanks to all the home health nurses with the VNA and the amazing paramedics. All of these people went above and beyond the call of duty to help our Dad.
