Obituary of Robert Muzzy

SCHUYLER/ILION- Robert S. ?Bob? Muzzy, age 86, of Ward Road, Mohawk, formerly a town of Schuyler resident for over 50 years, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Aug. 8, 2007 following a brief illness at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with his loving family by his side. Bob was born April 26, 1921 in Black Brook, N.Y., son of the late Loranzo and Meda (Skeels) Muzzy. He attended Plattsburg schools, and was a high school graduate. On July 24, 1948, Bob was united in marriage to Beatrice Mae Dewey in Utica. They shared a blessed and devoted union of over 38 years until Mrs. Muzzy's passing on Sept. 14, 1986. Bob was employed by the New York State Department of Transportation as a Lock Operator at Lock 19 in Schuyler with over 30 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement he enjoyed working part-time at JaJo Salvage Co. in Utica. Bob was a member of the Harvest Hills Baptist Church, Herkimer, he was a long time member of the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department, and the West Schuyler Methodist Church prior to moving to Mohawk. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Bob was dedicated to his beloved family and will be dearly missed by all. Survivors include his children, Kenneth ?Ken? Muzzy of Schuyler, Dana Muzzy and his wife Peg of Mohawk with whom Bob resided, Brian Muzzy and his wife Evelyn of Schuyler; his cherished grandchildren, Melissa Lyman and her husband Mike of Ilion, Ken Muzzy Jr. of Schuyler, Stephanie Muzzy of Schuyler, Brandy Knight and her husband Keith of Herkimer, Dana John Muzzy of Mohawk, David Muzzy of Florida, Beth Anne Muzzy and her husband Ali of Massachusetts, John Muzzy of Florida, Aaron Muzzy of Florida, Brian Eric Muzzy of Ilion, Elizabeth Muzzy of the town of Ohio, Megan Muzzy of Schuyler, Matthew Muzzy of Schuyler, and Sara Vannamee of Sherrill, N.Y., 12 great-grandchildren and two on the way; one sister-in-law, Gloria Muzzy of Ausable Forks, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Bob was predeceased by his wife Bea; daughter, Elizabeth Coffin; son, Steven Muzzy; brothers, Ernest and Bernard Muzzy; and sister, Martha Muzzy. Family and friends are invited to calling hours at the Applegate, Day and Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 2-5 p.m. Bob's funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 13 at the Harvest Hills Baptist Church, 1027 E. German St. Extension, Herkimer, commencing at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dale Lawrence officiating. Procession to West Schuyler Cemetery for interment will follow the funeral service. In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorial contributions in Bob's member to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
