Obituary of Mary Myers

Mary (Bortniak) Myers, 86, of 2980 SE San Jeronimo Road, Port St. Lucie, FL. passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2007 in Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach, FL. She was born September 8, 1920 in Salisbury, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur Bortniak and the late Anastazia (Wan) Bortniak. Mary grew up and was educated in Herkimer Schools, graduating in 1938. Following high School, she worked for the late Frank Basloe as his office assistant. Her marriage to the late Robert L. Myers took place on August 27, 1949 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk, NY. Following her marriage to Bob, she moved to the Albany area in support of his attending Pharmacy school. Following Bob's graduation, she returned to the Herkimer area until 1954 when they moved to Hamilton, NY for 25 years and co-owned the College Pharmacy. Following her retirement, she moved to the Port St. Lucie area in 1978 with her husband until the time of her death. Mary was an avid golfer. She remained active by being part of several women's groups and enjoyed traveling, shopping and playing bridge. Survivors include her sister Ann (Bortniak) Allen and brother-in-law Edward (Skip) Allen from Herkimer, sister-in-law Mary (Wodjan) Bortniak from Herkimer, nephew Don Bortniak, niece Liz Bortniak and great nephew Jake Bortniak all from Lake Worth, FL. great nephew Jason Bortniak from Manhattan, NY, great niece Katie Bortniak from lake Worth FL, sister-in-laws Barbara Myers of San Diego, CA, niece Kathy (Thomas) Shaffer and nephew Mark Shaffer from Mohawk, NY, niece Linda Myers of Manassas, VA and several other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Christine (Bortniak) Peknik and brother-in-law Daniel Peknik, brother Andrew Bortniak, brother-in-laws Harold (Tubby) Myers, Henry Thomas and Melvin Cole. Funeral services will be held in early May, 2007 at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Interment will follow immediately after at the Mohawk Cemetery, Mohawk, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Red Cross North Treasure Coast Chapter 2506 17th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960 may be made in memory of Mary.
