HERKIMER-Steven M. Ponte and Marie Lindsay mourn the loss of their beautiful baby boy Steven Marion Ponte, who passed away in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford on the day of his birth, Tuesday, September 25, 2007. In addition to Steven's parents, Steve and Marie of Herkimer, he leaves his paternal grandparents: Steve and Ann-Lee (Ciano) Ponte of Herkimer; maternal grandmother: Deanna "Dee Dee" Wilson and husband Robbie of Mohawk; maternal grandfather: Eddie Lindsay and wife Cindy of Newville; aunts and uncles: Nicole Maher and husband John of Herkimer, Melissa Ponte of Herkimer and Jenna Ponte of Herkimer, Mandy Lindsay and fiance Jeff Crim of Little Falls; three cousins: Zoe Crim, Alana and John Maher. "When God Calls Little Children" When god calls little children to dwell with him above, We mortals sometime question the wisdom of his love. For no heartache compares with the death of one small child. Who does so much to make our world, seem wonderful and mild, Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to his fold, So He picks a rosebud, before he can grow old. God knows how much we need them, and so he takes but a few to make the land of Heaven more beautiful to view. Believing this is difficult still somehow we must try, The saddest word mankind knows will always be "Goodbye." So when a little child departs we are left behind must realize God loves children, Angels are hard to find. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer with the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer officiating. The family is being served by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer.
