Obituary of Jenny Rota

Jenny A. Rota age 84, a long time resident of Acme Road went home to the Lord Monday evening October 8, 2007 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, with loved ones at her side. Jenny was born in Herkimer on May 3, 1923, daughter of the late Battista (Pat) and Amelia (Forcucci) Brandano. She attended Herkimer Schools, and was a graduate of Herkimer High School where she was a champion tennis and basketball star. On December 28, 1942 she was united in marriage to John A. Rota in New Jersey. They shared a blessed and devoted union of almost 65 years. Jenny enjoyed a successful career as a Licensed Real Estates Broker for many years with Century 21 Rob Diedrich Associates in Mohawk. She worked along side her beloved daughter Annette who passed away in 1998. Always involved with family activities, at one time she was active as a Girl Scout leader and a Cheerleader advisor. Jenny was a devout Roman Catholic. She was a life long communicant at Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer, The Rosary Society, and Monday afternoon prayer group which included her friends Clara Fredericks, Minnie Wezalis, Rita Rorke, and Mayme Franco. She was a member and immediate past president of the Third Ord er of St. Francis DaPaola Society. Jenny was a parishioner at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion and enjoyed attending the bible studies. Her life was dedicated to the Lord and her family, her loving husband John, daughters, grandchildren, and entire family, she will be greatly missed by all those she touched. Survivors include her beloved husband John and daughter Jennifer, with whom she resided. Two cherished grandchildren Michele (Gadziala) Luke of Ilion, and Rudy Gadziala and his wife Nicole (Tanner) of Selkirk. Two great-grandchildren Sydney and Alexa, and one on the way! Her son-in-law Rudy Gadziala of Ilion, and William Schwenzfeier of Utica. Two brothers and one sister-in-law, Benny and Olga Brandano of Mohawk, and Anthony Brandano of Frankfort. One sister Angie Gallo of Sun City, CA. Her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Tony Rota and his wife Eleanor, and Michael Rota and his wife Arlene all of CA., John Rota and his wife Mary of NJ, and Rose Coury of Staten Island. Many very special nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Annette in 1998, Three brothers Pasquale in 1917, Joseph in 1929, and John in 2005. Three sisters Anne Pellerito in 1958, Elvira Brandano in 1998, and Mary Savage in 2001, and many extended family members. Family and friends are invited to visitation Friday October 12, 2007,from 5-8PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd. (between Ilion and Frankfort). Jenny's funeral services will be held Saturday commencing at 9AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home under the direction of director John Day, and 10AM at the Church of the Annunciation where Father Anthony Barratt pastor and Deacon Jim Bower will celebrate a mass of Christian burial. Procession to Armory Hill Cemetery for entombment in the Rota mausoleum will follow mass. The St. Francis DaPaola Society will meet Friday at 7PM and the Rosary Society will follow at 7:15PM both at the funeral home for rituals. Jenny's family wish to sincerely thank Dr. V. Sharma, Dr. J. Ferreiro, and the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion shown to her during her stay. Those wishing to do so may consider memorial contributions in Jenny's name to the Annemarie Pellerito Foundation c/o California Community Foundation, 445 S. Figueroa St. Suite 3400, Los Angeles, CA 90071. This foundation was established to enrich the lives of physically and mentally challenged children and young adults in memory of Jenny's niece. Donation envelopes also will be available at the funeral home and church.
