Alice E. Sammons, 78, of Crum Creek Road, St. Johnsville, passed away on Saturday May 12, 2007 at Florida Hospital, Zephyrhills, Florida. She was born November 14, 1928 in Fonda the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Wright) Showerman and was educated in local schools. Her marriage to William J. Sammons took place on November 20, 1948 at St. Johnsville United Methodist Church. The couple shared a blessed union of 57 years until the passing of Mr. Sammons on January 5, 2006. Alice was last employed at the former Little Falls Footwear. At one time she worked at Helmont Mills and the former Allegro Shoe Company. Mrs. Sammons was a member of the Snowbirds Snowmobile Club. Survivors include four sons, Wyatt Sammons and wife Teresa of St. Johnsville, Steven Sammons and wife Eileen of St. Johnsville, John Sammons and wife Rose of Little Falls, and James Sammons of Iowa, three daughters, Elaine Stewart of St. Johnsville, Dawn Steele and husband William of Dolgeville, and Carol Steele and husband Gary of Florida, three sisters, Beverly Hayner and husband Benjamin of Rockwood, Elizabeth (Peg) Seeley of Ephratah, and Deanna Hart and husband Edward of St. Johnsville, 16 grandchildren, Jeremy Stewart, Tia Stewart, Tonya Sammons, Richard Sammons, Jeffrey Steele, Trisha Krajewski, Carrie Rosier, Tracy & Gary Steele, Mary Keith, Nathan, Andrew, Matthew, Amanda, Sarah & Liam Sammons, four great grandchildren, Morgan & Megan Stewart & Colby & Braiden Rosier, and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 17, 2007 at 11:00 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY with Reverend Carl Evans officiating. Burial will be in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday May 16, 2007 from 5-8 pm.
