Obituary of Phoebe Sanganetti

Mrs. Phoebe (Piacente) Sanganetti, 95, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 16, 2007 in Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born on September 15, 1911 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Donato) Piacente and was educated in Herkimer schools. On November 4, 1937, Phoebe was united in marriage with Dominick J. "Skinny" Sanganetti in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer, with the Rev. Gustav Purificato, officiating. The couple enjoyed a loving union of 55 years until Mr. Sanganetti's passing on August 16, 1993. Phoebe was last employed with the former Derby Sportswear. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer and belonged to the Town of Herkimer and Village of Herkimer Senior Citizens and also the International Garment Workers Union. A loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put family first she is survived by two beloved daughters: Margaret Stoffolano and husband Harold of Herkimer and Alicia "Toni" Helmer and husband Arthur of E. Herkimer; a brother: Anthony Piacente and wife Elizabeth of California; a sister: Carrie Shuhart of Herkimer; her cherished grandchildren: Bradley Stoffolano and wife Shan of Pepperell, Ma., Bruce Stoffolano and wife MaryAnn of Herkimer, Todd Helmer and wife Gwen of Lansdale, Pa., her adored great grandchildren: Justin and Matthew Stoffolano, Brendan Stoffolano, Austin and Grace Helmer; many nieces, nephews including Andrea Newsome and husband Keith of Wexford, Pa., Frank Piacente of Herkimer and MaryAnn Murphy and husband Gary also of Herkimer, all of whom were very good to Phoebe. Also surviving are many cousins and friends including Jack Greiner and Kurt Rhymestine. She was predeceased by her grandson: Eric Stoffolano. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, from 5-8 p.m. Her funeral will commence at 10:15 on Sat. morning, Jan. 20, 2007 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 a.m. from St. Francis de Sales Church, N. Bellinger St., Herkimer, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, will be held in the spring. Kindly consider memorial offerings to St. Francis de Sales Regional School or to Valley Health Services Development Fund; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor. Members of the town of Herkimer senior citizens will conduct their service at 5:30 p.m. and the village of Herkimer senior citizens will conduct their service at 6 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
