Obituary of Debra Scarano

LITTLE FALLS-Debra L. "Debbie" Scarano, 56, of Woodside Ave., Little Falls, entered into a new life where there is no more pain or suffering on Friday, September 7, 2007 in Faxton/St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. At the time of her passing she had the love and support of her family at her side. Debbie was born on May 8, 1951 in Little Falls the beloved daughter of the late Antoinette (Grassi) Frederick whom Debbie took care of for over 20 years. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy, Little Falls, and from the nursing program at Albany Medical Center. She was married to John Scarano on November 28, 1970 in Little Falls at St. Joseph's Church and was last employed as a nurse at Little Falls Hospital. Debbie had a compelling career goal, one that gave meaning and purpose to her generous service and intense dedication to the sick. Her passion in life was taking care of her patients and her nursing career which spanned over 38 years was filled with loyal and conscientious service to all those she took care of. Whether at the hospital or as a private home nurse she always gave all she had to her patients. She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. A strong and courageous woman, she was the matriarch of her family, serving as the glue that bound the members of her family together. Deb dedicated herself with great love, devotion and attention to the joys and responsibilities of raising her family throughout the years of their growing up and always took part in her son's lives. As such, she was greatly loved, honored and respected by her loved ones who will always cherish her in fond and lasting memories. In her leisure time she loved to share her baking and cooking talents with everyone. Debbie is survived by her husband John Scarano of Little Falls; two adored sons: Matthew Scarano and fianc?e Jamie Furgal of Little Falls and John Scarano of Little Falls; her mother in law: Rosina Scarano of Little Falls; in laws: Rocco and Peggy Scarano of Little Falls, Phil and Marchell Scarano of Little Falls and Drs. Joseph and Carolyn Clauss of Plattsburgh; many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins including Marlene Quatrino who was very special to Debbie. Also surviving are numerous dear friends and professional associates. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Nick and Frances Grassi. The Scarano family will be present in the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, to receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 10, 2007, from 4-8 p.m. Debbie's funeral will commence at 10:15 am from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 where prayer will be offered thence to Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Funeral procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial offerings to Little Falls Hospital or to Valley Health Services, Herkimer, both of whom went above and beyond to make Debbie and her family comfortable during this difficult time. The staffs of these two fine healthcare facilities offered great respect for Debbie's dignity and immeasurable support to her family. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Scarano family is also deeply appreciative of all the kind acts of sympathy and outpouring of support offered during the past year.
