Obituary of Mary Stack

Mrs. Mary M. Stack, 77, a lifelong Little Falls resident, went to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, January 18, 2007 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her entire loving family. Father Thomas Vail anointed Mary prior to her death. She was born in Little Falls on April 18, 1929, to Lawrence and Mary (Malavasic) Modryan, and was predeceased by her brother Paul and her sister Amelia. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy. Mary married her beloved husband of 57 years, Thomas J. Stack on May 31, 1948 in St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. Always the best of companions, Mary and Tom were devoted to one another, their marriage, and to their family life. She assisted her husband in the operation of Greg's Appliances in Herkimer for several years but dedicated her life to taking care of her family and her home. Mary was a dedicated and lifelong parishioner of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls, formerly St. Mary's Church where she was a member of the choir and rosary society. In September of 2006, she was a member of the committee for the St Mary's alumni "Coming Home" gala. Mary was very proud of the success of this program. Mary was also had a passion for her gardens, golf, bowling, working out at Curves, and Tai Chi. Mary was a gentle soul. She adored her family and friends, and she truly loved life and enjoyed and appreciated the simple things in her life and had a great sense of humor. Her spirit and her gentle laughter will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Mary was the matriarch of her family, serving as a mother-figure and a role model for her loved ones. She was the "glue" that bound the members of her family together. Furthermore, they will always value the traditions which were so meaningful to her and which she handed down to them. She was greatly loved honored and respected by her loved ones who will always cherish her in fond and lasting memories. Survivors include her husband Thomas of Little Falls; seven children; Donna and Bernie Janeczko of Clifton Park, Mary and John Covert of Charlotte, North Carolina, Richard and Cathy Stack of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, Ken and Kim Stack of Albany, Tom and Elaine Stack of Ballston Lake, New York, Barbara and Stanley Gaworecki of Houston, Texas and David and Christine Stack of Oak Ridge, New Jersey, 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and in laws. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. at Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007. Her funeral will commence at 10:15 a.m . on Monday, Jan. 22, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Holy Family Parish, Little Falls, where the Rev. Anthony Ligato will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial. Members of the church rosary society will form an honor guard at the church on Monday morning. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest.
