ILION - Catherine E. "Katy" Trask, 62, a longlife resident of Elizabethtown Road, Ilion, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, town of New Hartford. Katy was born Oct. 13, 1944, in Ilion, daughter of the late Gerald and Elizabeth (Binny) Sterling. She attended Ilion schools. On Feb. 5, 1960, she was united in marriage to Robert R. "Bob" Trask. They shared a devoted union of 47 years. Primarily a homemaker, at one time she was employed by Allegro Shoe Co. in Little Falls. More recently, Katy also enjoyed helping and caring for the elderly as an aide. Her beloved family was the center of her life. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her husband, Bob, at home; three sons, Robert G. Trask and his wife Donna of Colorado, Arthur B. Trask and his wife Sheila of Virginia, Robie R. Trask and his wife Karen of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Trina, Christopher, Arthur, Katherine, Mindy; three great-grandchildren, Oliva, Sean and Cheyenne; three sisters and spouses, Lillian (Penny) and Claude Nelon of West Virginia, Christine Champion and Robert Lock of Florida, Geraldine Marquissee and Dave Pettengill of Ilion; six brothers and spouses, Gerald and Sherrie Sterling of Arizona, Lee and Betty Sterling of Mohawk, Donald and Pattie Sterling of Ilion, Ronald and Debbie Sterling of Ilion, Arthur and Mary Sterling of Ilion, and Jack Sterling and MJ of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special niece, "Sgt. Bilko." Katy was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Dorothy Ward. Family and friends are invited to her graveside committal service on Tuesday, Sept. 4, commencing at 2 p.m. at the North Columbia Cemetery. There are no public calling hours. All arrangements are entrusted to the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion.
