MOHAWK-Lois L. (Steele) Treen, 80, formerly of 8 New York St., Mohawk, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Folts Homes, Herkimer. She was born on Aug. 6, 1927, in Utica, the daughter of Leamon and Ethel (Bunce) Steele and graduated from Mohawk High School. At one time she worked at Old English Cleaners, Mohawk. Lois later owned and operated Orchid Cleaners in Herkimer for many years. She enjoyed going shopping and tending to her plants. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Donald Meeker, Beth and Dennis LaBarge, all of Mohawk; her cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Sara and Melissa Meeker, Kelly and Kyle LaBarge; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Meeker; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen and Harold Blovat of Ilion, Jane and Dave Urtz of Mohawk; several brothersin-law and sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Doris Windecker. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at the Graves-Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, with Ken Palmer officiating. Calling hours are Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the fourth floor staff of Folts Home for their care and compassion during her stay.
